Vanity lights come in all finishes,sizes and price points,and are easy to install and replace.One way to brighten the decor of the whole room is to place a vanity light above or to the sides of your main bathroom mirror or medicine cabinet.
1.Turn off the power supply to the fixture at the electrical panel.
2.Remove the screws that hold the old fixture to the mounting strap in the electrical box.Remove the plastic wire nuts and unscrew the wires to remove the fixture.
3.Inspect the wires existing in the electrical box.Cut them with the wire stripper if they are uneven or too twisted to properly attach to the new fixture;then strip off 1/2 inch of the insulation with the wire stripper.
4.Make a diagram of the wires before you attempt to install the new vanity light.
5.Attach the mounting strap to the new fixture.
6.Locate the wires in the box.Using the plastic wire nut to twist together the ends of the black wire (or hot path) on the fixture with the black wire in the box,then,tape the wire nut to the wire with electrical tape.
7.Using the plastic wire nut to twist together the ends of the white or green wire (or neutral) on the fixture with the white or green wire in the box,then,Tape the wire nut to the wire with electrical tape.
8.Locate the grounding wire in the box and the grounding wire on the vanity light fixture.Twist the ends of both wires together with the plastic wire nut.Tape the wire nut to the wire with electrical tape.
9.Gently push the connected wires into the wall.Hold the vanity fixture flush against the wall.Fasten the vanity light fixture base to the mounting strap.Insert screws into the vanity light fixture's exterior base and then attach to the wall.
